Providing cable management services to one of the country’s busiest airports involves close collaboration to navigate the 1,200 daily flights, tight security and off-site storage requirements that are crucial to keep the job on track and the planes flying.
Turtle & Hughes Linden Transit Outside/Inside Sales group, along with our Bridgewater Central Distribution Center (CDC) team, is providing premium Prysmian cable management services and furnishing three conductor triplexed 500MCM AWG flat strap medium voltage cable to New York’s LaGuardia Airport and its new 5kv power distribution of the West, Center and East sections. This will meet the electrical demand of the +$4 billion modernization project now underway at LaGuardia Airport.
Our involvement includes cable management services on 140,000 feet of Medium Voltage Prysmian cable. Our Linden Outside/Inside Sales team handles design coordination, submittals, certified test reports, training and asset tracking while much of the behind-the-scenes work occurs at our CDC to complete the cycle of “just in time" deliveries to the airport. Cable management involves cutting 1,000-foot cable service reels to put-up reels required by the installing electrician. These reels are stored at the CDC and then delivered to the work site, as needed. LaGuardia Airport is a high security project, so all work on the “airside” requires escorts while work on the tarmac mandates that airlines be notified to clear the area.
When complete, electrical capacity to the airport will be greatly improved and this vital national infrastructure facility will be modernized to handle passenger and aircraft capacity for the next 20 years.
Turtle & Hughes has built a strong relationship with Prysmian Group that goes far beyond any one single transaction. Our Central Distribution Center is stocked with premium cable for the telecom and energy markets.
The Prysmian Group consists of Prysmian and Draka, two of the strongest and most respected commercial brands in the industry. Their complementary products and services meet the needs for two distinct sectors: Telecom Cables & Systems produces optical fibers, optical cables and connectivity for video, data and voice transmission. In energy, Prysmian Group operates in the business of renewable energy, low and medium voltage cables for the construction and infrastructure industry, high voltage, submarine and underground power transmission cables and systems, and special cables for applications in many different industrial sectors.
Our large inventory and strong logistics capabilities mean that we have the cable you need, when and where you need it. We can handle all of your cable management services, including final design, submittals, coordination of service reels, put-up reels, certified test reports, splicing requirements, cable handling and storage, invoicing, training, and coordination with installing electricians.

Linking power grids to sustainability.
This year is a very special one for Prysmian. It marks the 10th anniversary of the company becoming Prysmian. To commemorate, they have designed this distinctive golden circle. It represents the world with the number ten made up of a series of parallel cables that demonstrates the company’s straightforward approach. Along with the big picture, Prysmian focuses on the details; so the zero in the ten is comprised of a cross-section of a cable that shows each individual strand.
